How Bail Bonds Work
A-1 Bail Bonds Serving Colorado
As a Denver bail bonding company, A-1 Bail Bonds can help you understand
the entire process and steps that must be taken by each party to ensure
your loved one gets home. Our experienced staff can answer your questions
about your personal case. Below is some of the questions we hear often.
What happens to my loved one when they are arrested and how long does booking take?
They are taken to local or county jail to be booked and processed. They
are given booking numbers, bail amounts, and court appearances, as needed.
After their mug shot, fingerprints and Social Security Number are recorded,
law enforcement will verify what, if any, pending warrants are outstanding.
This process can take between 2 and 24 hours.
After booking process is completed is the defendant is given bail options?
Yes, the court will set a bond that may include cash or surety bail. Cash
bail means just that – cash money must be brought to the jail; a
bail bondsman cannot help you with a cash only bond. Surety bail means
you are allowed to use the services of a bail bondsman.
What is the typical cost of a bail bond?
In the state of Colorado, bail bondsmen usually charge 15 percent of the
bond amount, with a $50 minimum.
What does a bail bond cosigner need?
Cosigners must furnish a valid government issued ID, proof of U.S citizenship,
and be 18 years of age or older. Cosigners must also provide a current
paycheck stub and be currently employed full-time at their job for at
least two years or longer.
How long does paperwork processing take and how can I make a payment?
At A-1 Bail Bonds paperwork typically takes 20 minutes and payment can
be made by cash, credit card, check, money order or Western Union.
